Throwback Thursday: CSU-Pueblo Today Magazine Fall 2014

In the fall of 2014, I stepped in to design the layout of the spring 2014 edition of the CSU-Pueblo Today magazine, a student-run editorial produced within the Mass Communications department twice a year.  After designing the majority of the ads, I came on late to the layout and had only three weeks to create a 64-page magazine from scratch and deliver it to an off-set litho press. It was the fastest, most furious design session I've ever done. Sleep? Who needs sleep.

This magazine went on to win best regional magazine in the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) region 9 competition and is now in the national SPJ competition. (It was also entered in Communications Arts magazine's Graphic Design Annual and Print magazine's Regional Design Annual, but it will be a while before announcements are made--fingers crossed).

This magazine set the precedent for a new layout structure and more colorful approach in the succeeding edition of the Today magazine.

There are still a few of the fall 2014 edition on campus and it is scheduled to remain on the racks until about mid-fall semester, so you still have plenty of time to pick up your own copy.
